We congratulate you on your victory and very soon, you will be sworn-in as governor of Anambra State. How are you preparing for the challenges ahead?

Yes, thank God so much, the Anambra State people have spoken through that landslide victory and I will fulfill all my promises to the people. We are all set to take over in good faith, the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief Peter Obi has done well by laying a good and wonderful foundation for us to work on. So, with God on my side, I know we will not let the good people of Anambra State down.

The Sun Man of the Year Award given to Peter Obi is to compensate him for his level of commitment towards the development of the state. How will you describe the award given to him?

Yes, in clear terms, the award has indicated that Gov. Peter Obi brought tremendous development to the state. If you look at it very well, Govs. Obi and  Fashola of Lagos State have some qualities that make them similar in terms of giving dividends of democracy to their people. The award I can say really describes the kind of person Dr. Peter Obi is, he is a leader that has the interest of his people at heart.

What should the people expect from your government within two years in office?

Yes, my predecessor has done well in the state by laying some foundation. We will complete them and do more because our people need more development; even within one year in office, I will  reposition the educational sector. Why I believe in education is that if that sector is more taken care of, it will surely reflect on all the other sectors. Also, the healthcare sector, I believe those things that our people need on a day to day basis, we will also refurbish and build more because with the new trend, I am envisaging more people will be coming home now, the population will increase. So, we need to expand the current facilities on ground, I want to create more investment. I have spoken to a  couple of Anambra indigenes who God has blessed to come home and invest. They have all agreed because I promised them better level playing ground and security for their investment.  By this, lots of Anambra indigenes will be employed and the rate of unemployment will be reduced. One of my cardinal focuses within my two years in office is the construction of an international airport in Anambra State, this has been long due, we in Anambra only rely on Asaba airport and Enugu airport to connect other major cities in the country but in our first term in office by God’s grace, we will make sure this issue is looked at. Also, I will like to complete a major stadium to attract international sport competition to the state, so this and more will be realized within the first term in office of our administration.

Some people believe that you might not have enough power to decide state decision without the authority of your predecessor, will this not affect all the promises you made to the people?

I don’t understand you well but do you mean somebody will dictate for me or what. No, I don’t think so because with all indication, he will soon be given another responsibility, so if he’s given, would he leave his own job to dictate for me, no it is not done. Yes, he remains a stakeholder in the state but I don’t think he will do that and let me tell you that the issue of godfatherism will not be tolerated in my government. If you have a meaningful thing to contribute towards the success of the government,  you are welcomed but if you believe you are just there waiting to get the ‘state cake’, you are on your own, so I believe by the time we are sworn-in, the people should be ready to see another new dawn in Anambra State.
