Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has called on Nigerians to treasure the bond of unity that defines the country as a Nation.

Mr Emmanuel who was guest at the Special Thanksgiving Service of the Rivers State Governor,  Nyesome Wike, held at St. Peters Anglican Church Rumueprikom, Deanery, Rivers state, made the call at a reception after the Service at Government House, Port Harcourt.

He advised Politicians to guide their utterances and utter words that build rather than provoke sentiments that could threaten the peace prevalent in the country.

He thanked God for the victory at the supreme Court which he said Akwa Ibom and Rivers States have shared and felicitated the Peoples Democratic Party Stakeholders for their support during the trying times and congratulated Governor Wike and the Rivers State people on the victory which he observed has silenced the opposition.

The Akwa Ibom Governor harped on the need for the South South States to unite and forge a common front for economic cooperation as a state that produces one of the Nations Resources. Similar goodwill messages were presented by the Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr Henry Seriake Dickson and his Abia State counterpart, Victor Ikpeazu.

The Chief Host, Chief Nyesome Wike expressed gratitude to God for the victory which, according to him, has restored peace in the state and assured of his administration’s commitment to develop the state.

Governor Wike particularly thanked the people for the turnout as well as the wife of the former President, Dame Patience Jonathan for the honour done him by her presence.

In his homily, Most Reverend Ignatius Kattery, admonished Christians to cultivate the virtue of thanksgiving and cautioned against political prostitution but stressed the need for Politicians to remain steadfast in their parties for true democratic culture and ideology to grow.
