The ongoing Glo Campus Storm moving round Nigerian universities has been described as a commendable initiative by the students of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki.

The students who experienced the show on the school campus in Abakaliki on Friday, December 2, were full of praises for Globacom for initiating the youth-focused music concert.

The now widely popular campus concert was held at the Law Faculty auditorium of the institution, attended by hundreds of excited students, some of whom granted post-event interviews to our correspondent.

A 300-level Food Science and Technology student, Amarachi Mba, said, “The Glo Campus Storm is such a great idea. It is only Glo that organizes this kind of concerts here in Abakaliki. They really know what we students want.”

A talented singer and student of Geology, Benedict Chikaodinaka, said, “I have never been given an opportunity to perform at any show. I never knew I had such great skills until I was asked to perform at the Glo Campus Storm. Glo has helped me discover myself even more and I appreciate them for this.”

As usual, the Ebonyi State University edition of Glo Campus Storm opened with performances by aspiring singers, most of whom gave their colleagues a nice time.

It was also participatory as many members of the audience had opportunities to showcase their talent in dancing, singing, comedy and poetry, as well as a beauty pageant in which the audience were allowed to judge the contestants and produce winners by voice vote.

The main performances commenced with Reekado Banks serenading the audience with some of his hits including ‘Katapot’,  ‘Oluwani ni’ and ‘Sugar baby.’ He was followed by Korede Bello, his Marvin Records label mate who took the show to the next level.

The fast rising star sang his monster hit ‘Godwin’ and ‘Mungo Park’ among others, before yielding the floor to Runtown, who brought the show to a close in a blaze of glory.

While the show lasted, 15 young ladies and 15 young men competed to emerge the best Diva and Dude on campus. In the end, Nkasiobi Muoneke, a 400-level Medicine and Surgery undergraduate, emerged as winner of the coveted “Glo Campus Data Diva” competition, while Gabriel Ogbonna Ajah, a 300 level History and International Relations student, emerged as the Glo Campus Data Dude. Both winners carted home N100,000 each, while the runners-up in both categories won N50,000 each.

A total of eight university campuses have hosted the show so far.
