Another contestant has been evicted from the MTN Project Fame Academy as the competition gets stiffer. This was obvious in the previous Nomination Show, which had the contestants entertaining all with rich reggae tunes. Despite the brilliant performances, the viewers’ votes would still determine the most impressive contestant.

The contestants’ group performance (a medley of Boyz 2 MEN and New Edition hit tracks) opened the evening, and as always, it was a breath-taking blend of vocal prowess and impressive expressions all rolled into one.

For the week, the contestants with the least number of votes turned out to be Ugo, Flourish, Daniella, and Emeka. But without much ado, they each stepped on stage again to perform their songs from the previous Nomination Show for a chance to remain in the competition.

Just before the Judges, Faculty, and contestants save one each, delectable Niniola, (Season 6 third runner-up) lighted up the stage with her personal composition ‘Ibadi’. It was heart-warming to see that an alumna of the Academy is doing remarkably well in the music industry.

Coming back to the business of the night, the Judges gracefully saved Emeka, the Faculty saved Ugo, which left the contestants with a choice to either save Daniella or Flourish. In the end, they took sides with Daniella and this marked the end of Flourish’s sojourn in the competition.

She had words of appreciation for the Judges, Faculty and everyone who supported and made her stay in the Academy worthwhile. Flourish bowed out of the competition singing Tuface’s ‘Raindrops’.

The past week in the Academy was another eventful one. The contestants as usual had tons of lessons to glean from the inestimable members of the Faculty. The highlight of the week was Tuface Idibia’s visit to the Academy.

The joy of meeting one of the best Nigerian music icons surely lingered and reflected even in their individual performances. The evening’s nomination show was dedicated to celebrate this icon – Tuface Idibia. Little wonder the contestants stepped on the stage in style and glam for their group performance – a medley of hit tracks by the defunct “Plantashun Boiz”. This can be said to have brought back some profound memories for 2face who was in the studio as a guest judge and other members of the audience.

It was an absolutely exciting night as Christian opened the floor with his dramatic performance of ‘African Queen’. Next up was Daniella who passionately performed ‘True Love’. Shola brought down the house with ‘For Instance’, followed by Debbie who smoothly did ‘If Love Is A Crime’.

After these four performances, Clement took the centre stage with ‘Nfana Ibaga’, then came Ugo’s turn and he engaged everyone with ‘Implication’. Ruky took up the challenge with ‘See Me So’ to everyone’s delight. Emeka entertained the audience, singing ‘Ihe Neme’. To wrap-up their individual performances was Geoffrey and he did well with ‘Only Me’.

To draw the curtains on the night’s show was the living legend himself – Tuface Idibia who entertained and got everyone dancing with his amazing renditions.
