It was celebration galore at El-Marino Sports Club’s annual end of the year party which held at Funplex Park, CMD Road, Magodo, Lagos last weekend. The event tagged “Special Family End of Year Party”, had in attendance, members, their wives and children.
El-Marino Sports Club Celebrates at Annual End of Year Party
According to the Welfare Secretary of the team, Mr. Babatunde Adebayo, the club specifically choose the theme for this year’s party to allow their families come together, celebrate and have a better understanding of what El-Marino Sports Club is all about and what they stand for.
“We made it strictly family and the idea behind it is to create an atmosphere for family to bond. Usually each time we hold programmes, our wives and children are not part of it. And so, to carry them along, we specifically organized the event to center around our families and to enable them to better understand what El-Marino is all about.
“We want to thank God as a family for seeing us through to the end of the year. Usually when this kind of opportunity comes up we are always very happy and privileged.
“I am happy that I am a part of this year’s event, more so, a member of the organizing committee. This year’s event was organized to allow members of our families to celebrate with us and have a better understanding of the purpose and objectives of El-Marino Sports Club” he said.
Speaking earlier, Mr. Anthony Akamaguna, the Team Manager of El-Marino Sports Club said, the annual event is held to felicitate, reflect and plan towards the coming year.
His words “We are here to thank God for the opportunity to see the end of this year. Last year we had one just like this and this year we are having another one.
“It is another opportunity to reflect on our activities and achievement for the year and plan towards improving in the coming year.“This year we were able to consolidate membership and we are hoping to
increase our number in the coming year. Also, we are planning to move to our permanent site next year. We are hoping to better improve the wellbeing of our members and also reach out to members of our
community.”
Also speaking during the event, a member, Board of Trustees of El-Marino Sports Club, Surveyor Toyin Odunowo congratulated all members and their families for witnessing yet another end of year celebration while adding that El-Marino does not only promote physical health and fitness but also healthy family relationships.
He expressed satisfaction with the way the event was organized and thanked all members of the executive committee for their effort.
One of the wives who attended the event, Mrs. Paul Asemota thanked the association for organizing the event with focus on the family. According to her, it shows how loving and caring their husbands are. She encouraged them to organize more family focused events in the coming year.
While expressing happiness, Mrs. Adefunke Adebayo said “It’s a very interesting party, as you can see, we are really having fun. There are people here who haven’t seen themselves in a while but with this event, they are able to meet again and catch up. So, we are very grateful to El-Marino and we are very proud of them.
El-Marino is a Lagos based sports club that promotes healthy living amongst its members through participation in sporting activities such as football, table -tennis, jogging etc.
