Ekweremadu Blows Hot

Senator Ike Ekweremadu, former Deputy Senate president is very angry and has expressed his dissatisfaction…

“It is embarrassing for the Senate to have elected Omo-Agege, who led thugs to steal the mace. My decision to re-contest the seat was not to win or lose, but to make a statement. I believe there must be a referendum.”

For those who don’t know, Ekweremadu was on Tuesday, June 11th, 2019 succeeded by his counterpart, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as the Senate Deputy President.

It is interesting to know that Ekweremadu, a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) contested for the position polling 37 votes while his APC colleague, Omo-Agege polled 68 votes to emerge the Deputy Senate President.

However, Omo-Agege is alleged to have led thugs to invade the Senate Chamber in April 2018 and forcefully removed the mace which led to his suspension for 180 legislative days as recommended by a National Assembly joint ad hoc committee in July 2018.
