EFCC Boss, Bawa In Hot Soup

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa is in big trouble.

One Love Foundation Chairman and human rights activist, Dr Patrick Eholor has called for his resignation.

He said: “A man with such a shady report against his name just a few years ago cannot continue to head an anti-corrupt agency in any serious country.”

“I have friends who are Fulanis, but it’s not about where one comes from. It’s about one being corrupt, and believing that you are bigger than the government.”

“We have this EFCC chairman now. This man is a civil servant and he went to the Hajj and spent 15 thousand dollars a day in a hotel, over 300 thousand dollars on a vacation of 10 days.”

“A civil servant. Where did he get the money? What is his salary? Did he not declare his assets before he became chairman of EFCC? This same man was accused some time ago in Port Harcourt of selling trucks that were seized.”

“The trucks were worth over 30 million each but he sold them to his friends for 100 thousand naira each. There were over 200 trucks.”
“So I don’t understand why people think they are institutions and that there is nothing you can do to them.”

“But you also know that I was the one that took up the case of Abba Kyari.”

“How can a thief be prosecuting a thief? That’s hypocrisy. This can happen only in Nigeria. We must expose them, we must stop them.”

“This impunity cannot continue. Nobody is above the law. It don’t matter where they are from, whether North, South, East or West.”

“Whoever is corrupt must be tried, and if those who are going to try the corrupt are also corrupt, then we are in serious trouble. And I think honestly, the Chairman of EFCC should apologise to Nigerians and resign immediately or I will take him to court personally.”

For those who don’t know, Zamfara State governor, Bello Matawalle accused the EFCC boss of demanding 2 million dollars bribe from him recently.

He said: “It is not just to always blame governors. It is not only governors who have treasury, the federal government also has. What does the EFCC boss do to them? As he is claiming he has evidence on governors, let him show to the world evidence of those at the federal level.”

“If he exits office, people will surely know he is not an honest person. I have evidence against him. Let him vacate office, I am telling you within 10 seconds probably more than 200 people will bring evidences of bribe he collected from them. He knows what he requested from me but I declined.”

“He requested a bribe of $2 million from me and I have evidence of this. He knows the house we met, he invited me and told me the conditions. He told me governors were going to his office but I did not. If I don’t have evidence, I won’t say this.”
