Late Biafra leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu’s best kept secrets has been revealed. The first son of the late Ikemba Nnewi and Eze Wurugburu of Igbo land, Barrister Debe Ojukwu revealed that his father does not have a biological sister and brother from the father’s side (Late Sir Louis Ojukwu) but only had half sister and brother from the mother’s side which are known as the Biggas Family and his only known half brother, Tom Bigga was killed during the Nigerian civil war.

Also, he explained that he was born in 1956 when his father was a bachelor and his mother a spinster and they were never married. He added that his father did a court wedding with another lady and after some years they quarreled and parted ways but the legal marriage was never dissolved and she is still alive today.

Barrister Debe Ojukwu added that as a lawyer, there is no way any marriage entered by his father subsequent to that woman can be a valid marriage because the first court marriage has not been nullified. He revealed that a lady married to another man eloped with his father and had children for him.

He explained that his father’s first court marriage was never annulled and the lady that eloped with him, marriage to her own husband was not equally annulled. So, in law and in Igbo custom, the children sired during their cohabitation belong to the first husband and any woman that comes in while the father’s first marriage was still valid can only be a mistress. According to him, that is the position of in law and that is why he is the only legitimate child of Late Chukwuemeka Ojukwu.
