Chief Betrand Okpala Loses Mother

Death has occurred of Mrs. Marcilina Okpala (Ada ejiego). She was aged 82. Mrs. Okpala was survived, among other children and relatives, Chief Batrand Okpala (mmiri na ezero ora 1 of Uga), her first son.

A press statement signed by Chief Okpala, described his mother as a community leader, shrewd businesswoman and devout Christian who gave all her children excellent Christian upbringing.

According to the statement, the entire family of late Nze David U Obika Okpala of Umuchiaku village, Awarasi, Uga in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra, is deeply mourning the demise of its matriarch.

The late Mrs. Okpala’s rites of passage, according to a programme of event released by Chief Batrand Okpala, indicates that there will be vigil mass in honour of the deceased on Thursday, August 20th at her husband’s compound, at Awarasi Uga by 5pm.

Funeral mass holds the next day, Friday, August 21st at 10am. This will be followed immediately by internment.

Outing mass is at Immaculate Heart Parish, Uga on Sunday 23rd August at 9am.

According to Chief Okpala, the press statement serves as an invitation to his mother’s burial for those who did not get the formal invitation card before the date.
