Rt Reverend Peter Awelewa, pioneer Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion is dead dead. He died at the age of 79.
His first son, Adeboye disclosed this in a statement.
For those who don’t know, Adebiyi was the Bishop of Lagos West Anglican Diocese from 1999 until 2013 following his retirement after hitting the mandatory retirement age (70).
Adebiyi was a lecturer at the University of Ado-Ekiti (UNAD), now Ekiti State University (EKSU) for many years before his call to the ministry.
Adebiyi was ordained a Deacon in 1970 and a Priest in 1971 and served as a Priest at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Ilawe Ekiti.
Adebiyi emerged Vicar of Archbishop Vining Memorial Church, Ikeja between 1987 and May 1993.
He was collated an archdeacon in 1990 and consecrated Bishop of Owo Diocese on May 26, 1993.
Adebiyi was born on April 27, 1943. He hailed from Osi-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
