Bayo Onanuga Joins Senatorial Race

Bayo OnanugaVeteran journalist and MD/CEO of PM Newspaper and TheNews Magazine, Bayo Onanuga has joined those jostling for the senatorial seat of Ogun East under the platform of APC.

Onanuga, a media practitioner of three decades is no doubt a popular and charismatic community leader who had carved a niche for himself as an enviable team player who has been involved in many successful social and development programmes not only in Ijebuland but also the entire Ogun State.

Making the declaration in Ijebu-Ode in Ijebu-Ode local government, he stated that he’s contesting for the seat on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) to help reduce the poverty rate in the district through the oversight function of the Senate.

Onanuga disclosed how much his people put pressure on him to come and help them with the position by leveraging on the opportunities that come to the nation such as influencing investors and federal government presence.

While addressing the mammoth crowd that attended the event, Onanuga said over 90 percent of the people of the nation are living below poverty level, noting that his priority is ameliorating poverty and providing jobs for the unemployed by exploring the quota meant for his district in federal establishments.

Onanuga emphasised that he’s not into politics to amass wealth but rather to better the living standard of his people, thereby saying politics is not a do or die affair to him.

In his own response, the party Chairman in Ijebu-Ode, Chief Ladi Lekuti, said the answer to the clarion call by Onanuga is apt, noting that it’s long overdue for an Ijebu-Ode native to occupy the senatorial seat of the district.
