YouTube Rewind Reveals Most Watched Videos In Nigeria In 2013

From videos that got us laughing till we had tears in our eyes, to those that left us angry, worried and curious, this year’s top trending YouTube videos show great that great channels are driving pop culture and becoming a platform for Nigerians to express their deepest emotions.
It’s now that time of the year when we take a look at the videos, channels, and moments that shaped our year. As unpredictable as each year seems to be, it’s clear that trending videos are getting bigger, and the global community responsible for them is driving pop culture unlike ever before.
A look at Nigerian favorite music videos in 2013, reveals that Naija music has indeed found a place in our hearts and on our dance floors. Songs like  Ada Ada (Preview)  (Preview)  by Flavour,   Caro (Preview)  (Preview)  by Starboy feat L.A.X & Wizkid,   Personally (Preview)  (Preview)  by P-Square,    Jaiye Jaiye (Preview) (Preview)  by Wizkid ft Femi Kuti and   Eminado(Preview)  (Preview)  by newly married diva Tiwa Savage ft Don jazzy were some of the most watched music videos in NIgeria in 2013.
The comedy-loving side of the Nigerian was also evident from the list of most viewed videos, with videos like  The Interview (Preview)  (Preview) by NdaniTV and Lagos Big Girl’s Game (Preview)  (Preview)  by VideoHitsShow’s featuring as two of the most watched videos in 2013.
In addition to music and comedy, Nigeria also had its share of highly talked about news content that got everyone sharing, liking and commenting. Videos like the Channels TV’s interview with the NSCDC commandant (popularly referred to as “  Oga at the Top (Preview)  (Preview) ”) and the toe-to-toe   #girlnotbride (Preview)  (Preview)  conversation between movie celeb Stella Damasus and Senator Yerima on the Al-Jazeera show The Stream were some of the most emotional Nigerian moments on YouTube.
Globally, the world watched the   The Fox (Preview)  (Preview)  more than 265 million times, making it the top trending video of 2013. Viewers also made it a top searched Halloween costume, and you’ll maybe even read it as a children’s book. The global public turned out in record-setting numbers to see Psy’s post-Gangnam Style performance on his latest video Gentleman You watched, listened, and reacted to just about everything Miley Cyrus did. And you made more “Harlem Shake” videos than there are people in Manhattan (1.7 million if you’re counting).
