Glo subscribers can now enjoy easy and accessible roaming in 42 countries as total information and communications technology solutions provider, Globacom, has launched its Wi-Fi roaming service.
Globacom’s Chief Commercial Director, Ajay Marthur, in a statement issued from the company’s headquarters in Lagos on Tuesday said that the wi-fi roaming service gives an unrivaled mobile internet experience in 300,000 locations across 42 countries.
He explained that all its subscribers will enjoy hi-speed Wi-Fi connections on their hand-held devices in public places such as airports, hotels, restaurants, stadiums and coffee shops in the 42 countries.
“The Glo Wi-Fi roaming plans are like passes which grant our subscribers access to their favorite social media applications, websites or emails on any Wi-Fi-enabled mobile device or tablet. It automatically connects them to thousands of hotspots when they travel,” Mr Mathur said.
The pocket-friendly wi-fi service is available in Daily and Weekly plans which is easy to monitor and gives subscribers double validity for both plans.The Daily plan is valid for 2 days and goes for N2,100 per hour while the Weekly plan is valid for 14 days and goes for N9,200 per five hours.
Mr. Marthur emphasized that no matter the plan the subscriber opt for, “He is guaranteed the same clear and transparent rate across all available hotspots”, and that “each purchased plan has a period of six months within which the subscriber can use it”.
The Wi-Fi roaming service also offers internet speed that is three times faster than 3G without roaming charges, absence of terms and conditions to use the service, no cancellation charges and 24 hour service.
Countries where the service can be enjoyed include Canada, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Denmark, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Brazil, Germany, Russia, Austria, China, Japan, India, Austria, Belgium, Taiwan and the Netherlands.
Others are Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Finland, French Guiana, French Polynesia, Greece, Guadeloupe, Hungary, Israel, Luxemburg and Malta. The rest are Martinique, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Reunion Island, Australia, New Zealand and Grenada.
Subscribers are required to download the Wi-Fi roaming App from Android and Apple store to use the service. Subscription for the service is done through the app and by SMS before the customer travels.
Prepaid subscribers are to ensure that they have enough airtime on their phones by loading credit that will cover their desired plans, while the postpaid customer subscribes for the plan from the App and would have the cost added to his monthly bill.
