Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State has explained why he is not going to the senate like some of his fellow governors. He said that he has acquired the status of father to younger politicians and he should be playing fatherly role now instead of seeking elective office. He said he doesn’t have to be senator to be relevant in Jigawa State and Nigeria’s politics. According to him, he is now a bridge between the old generation politicians and the younger generation politicians having been a member of the House of Representatives in 1979.

He said that his job now is to mentor, influence, guide and advise the younger politicians and he doesn’t have to occupy any political office to be relevant in politics.
