Untold Story Of Kefee’s Death

KefeeMultiple award-winning gospel singer, Kefee Don Momoh died on Friday 13th August, 2014 morning. She passed on in the early hours, after being in coma for weeks in an undisclosed American hospital.

The singer, who was reportedly pregnant, fell into a coma while on a flight to Chicago, in the United States of America. The plane had to make an emergency landing in Los Angeles so she could receive medical attention.

Sources close to the family confirmed that she finally gave up last Friday 13, June. OAP Yaw, a close friend of her husband, OAP Teddy Don Momoh confirmed the news on Wazobia Fm, saying: “One of our very own is dead. May her soul rest in peace.”

A Female singer rapper tweeted: “Now you are looking at heaven…..Teach us Lord to number our days. Rest In Peace Kefee, God knows best.”

Music producer, K-Solo wrote on Twitter: “My Girl KEFEE is Gone. She’s One Artist I Produced Kokoroko for and she so Wonderful n Thank God I Told Her Before Now. Whenever she opens her mouth the vocal just drops and she can’t even phantom how great her voice dexterity is. I can’t hold this tears. I Call her IREKEF #ripkefee”

Kefee whose music career started at the age of 8 in her church choir, was famous for her gospel songs ‘Branama’ and ‘Kokoroko’. She won several awards including the best collaboration Headies Award in 2010.

Nigerian entertainers have begun to rally support in form of prayers for the award winning gospel singer.

Notable artistes like Yemi Alade, Essence, comedians; Laf up, Zeez, among others have rallied support in form of prayers for her before her eventual death.

A medical doctor in Nigeria, Dr. Adeyefa, had earlier shed more light on Kefee’s condition, he said she is suffering from pre-eclampsia – pregnancy induced high blood pres‎‎sure. And her doctors also revealed that her chance of survival was slim as her situation does not only require prayers, but a miracle.

Until her death, she resided happily with her husband in the US and managed her restaurant, Branama Kitchen, in Maryland, Lagos.
