United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc. has now opened a new branch in Mali today, Monday, February 4, 2019.

Speaking on the expansion, Maimouna El Oumrany, Spokeswoman for UBA’s Malian subsidiary, said that;

“Mali is a large market with a low (bank) account penetration rate. We’re hoping to do better than the 13 banks already established in the country.”

“UBA’s strategy in Mali, a landlocked country on the edge of the Sahara is focused on digital products that clients can access from their smartphones.”

It is noteworthy that UBA has over 700 branches and has subsidiaries across African countries such as Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Uganda, Mozambique and Zambia. The bank also has offices in London, Paris and New York.

Prior to the launching of UBA Mali, Tony Elumelu, chairman of the bank took to his twitter page to share photos of himself and rave making musician, Wizkid, (Ayodeji Balogun). He tweeted;
