The bitter war between billionaire businessman, Tunde Ayeni and ex-lover, Gail Fajembola has taken a fresh dimension as the Nigeria Police Force has filed a six-count criminal charge against Tunde Ayeni’s former companion, Gail Fajembola and her company, GIF Energy Resources Ltd, before the Federal High Court in Lagos.
The case, marked FHC/L/973C/2025 — Inspector General of Police v. Gail Fajembola & GIF Energy Resources Ltd, follows a petition by business executive, Tunde Ayeni over a property-related dispute.
According to court filings, the charges involve alleged forgery, false representation and fraudulent conversion related to a property in Banana Island, Lagos, said to be at the centre of a tenancy dispute between both parties.
In a statement issued on Monday, Mr Ayeni confirmed that he petitioned the authorities after discovering what he described as a case of misrepresentation and unauthorized transactions involving one of his companies.
“My attention was drawn to certain actions that raised concerns about the use and representation of a property belonging to one of my firms,” he said.
“I decided to seek redress through the appropriate legal channels.”
Ayeni added that following his petition, the police invited Ms Fajembola for questioning and their findings led to the filing of criminal charges before the Federal High Court.
“This matter is now before the judiciary, and I believe in allowing due process to take its full course,” he said.
“I urge the public to disregard false and misleading claims circulating on social media. I have full confidence that justice will be done.”
As of press time, Fajembola and representatives of GIF Energy Resources Ltd had not publicly commented on the charges.
The case is expected to come up for mention later this month.
For those who don’t know, Fajembola had filed a separate suit against Ayeni and others over alleged harassment and threats concerning a luxury apartment at Ocean Parade Towers, Banana Island.
In that suit, Fajembola asked the court to restrain the police from interfering in what she described as a civil dispute, insisting that she never claimed ownership of the property.
She also alleged that police actions were being used to intimidate her following the breakdown of her relationship with Ayeni.
The property, Flat K9-2 at Ocean Parade Towers, has been the subject of multiple legal filings since June, including petitions from Olutoyl Estate Development & Services Ltd, which accused Fajembola of unlawfully leasing out the apartment without consent.
