Tonye Cole Fights Wike

Ex-Sahara Energy boss, Tonye Cole is set to give Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State the battle of his life in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

Sources squealed to us that Tonye Cole will be contesting the guber election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). We gathered that his candidacy has been adopted by stakeholders at their apex leadership caucus meeting in Lagos recently presided over by Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, who doubles as APC leader in Rivers State.

Other party leaders at the Lagos meeting included, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs; Dr. Dakuku Peterside; Chief Sam Jaja and Senator Andrew Uchendu.

Tonye Cole is an architect and a son of Dr. Partick Dele Cole, a former managing director of Daily Times and a former ambassador of Nigeria to Brazil. He is from Abonnema-Kalabari, headquarters of Akuku-Toru (rivernine) Local Government Area.
