Two-term serving lawmaker in the senate from Abia State, Senator Eyinnaya Harcour Abaribe, the goal was to become the governor of his state, and this he came very close to when he deputized former governor, Orji Kalu, but along the line, he fell out with his boss and he had to re-strategize to actualize his dream.

As the next opportunity presents itself, Abaribe, it is believed is confident he is going to get the party blessing to run but according to feelers, he may have discovered a clog in the wheel of the progress he set in motion to actualize his dream. Information has it that the outgoing governor, Theodore Orji, is not very well disposed to the aspiration of the former as he’s said to be well pleased with former deputy speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Honorable Uzor Azubieke.
The chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Public Petition, who is said to be a grassroots politician was said to have tested his popularity some time ago when the traditional rulers, upon attracting a polytechnic to the state, hosted him to a reception. Governor Orji and other relevant personalities were said to be present at the gathering where support was indirectly solicited for his governorship ambition. Those in the know revealed that Abaribe is counting on the national leadership of the party to override the resistance of governor for his gubernatorial ambition.
