At the last nomination show of the on-going MTN Project Fame competition, the Judges felt that most of the performances were below average and this resulted in general probation, leaving the power to save the very best via votes in the hands of West Africa.

So without much ado, the hosts revealed the names of the five contestants with the least number of votes; which means that all the contestants, except Biko, Joy, Anderson, Jeff, and Kumi were saved by the viewers’ votes.

But just before these five performed again for a chance to get back into the Academy, Isaac Geralds (Season 4) thrilled the audience with one of his hit songs- ‘Fall in love’.

Biko, Anderson, Kumi, Jeff, and Joy then mounted the stage one after the other to perform again for a chance to remain in the race. In the end, the Judges decided to keep Kumi, the Faculty saved Jeff, while the contestants saved Joy. And that marked the end of the road for Anderson and Biko.

As always, the moment of goodbye is the hardest. This evening was no exception as Biko’s parting words were heavy with emotions, while Anderson could not hold back tears as he gave a brief appreciation speech.

The show ended with the two’s last performances. Biko performed ‘Ordinary people’ by John Legend whileAnderson took a bow with ‘Story of my life’ by One Republic.

The tempo of the show has heightened with the exit of the two contestants the previous night and although it came as a rude shock to many, the show must go on and so it did. To keep their dreams alive on MTN Project Fame West Africa, the remaining contestants were ready to thrill everyone and impress the Judges with a playlist of the very best pop hits of all time.

The show was opened with an impressive performance of Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Because of You’ by Joy. Arewa delivered a believable performance of ‘Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart’ by Alicia Keys. Deinde stunned everyone with a smooth performance of ‘As Long As You Love Me’ by Backstreet Boys and oh yes, he didn’t forget his lyrics. Taking the stage next was Chike who sang ‘Say You, Say Me’ by Lionel Richie.

After these set of performances, it was glaring to all that the contestants had woken up to the reality of the competition. Pearl was up next and she decently attempted ‘Blank Space’ by Taylor Swift, while Oluchi gave Madonna’s tough song ‘Take A Bow’ a good shot. Kumi brilliantly delivered ‘From This Moment’ by Shania Twain. Jeff did incredibly well with ‘If You Are Not The One’ by Daniel Beddingfield and Ada closed this phase of singing with ‘That’s The Way It Is’ by Celine Dion.

However, that wasn’t all. In an unprecedented turn, just before the Judges gave their verdict on those who will be going on probation, the hosts – Joseph and Bolanle announced that there was a little surprise for West Africa and lo and behold after much consideration, and based on the values and credibility of the show, Anderson, one of last night’s evictees will be given a second chance and recalled to the competition. Amidst heightened excitement, Anderson was invited to perform ‘Story Of My Life’ by One Direction for the second time.

Again, all the contestants have been placed on probation and only the viewers votes guarantees contestants a space on the MTN Project Fame hall of fame.
