Owerre Agog For 2018 Iwa-Ji

His Royal Highness, Eze L.N Emechebe (IKPO), the Owerre Akokwa Traditional Rulers Council and Owerre Akokwa Progressive Union have concluded plans for the 2018 Iwa-ji Owerre Akokwa (Owerre Akokwa New Year festival). Sons and daughters of the community which is in Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo state are in high spirit as they look forward to the epoch yearly cultural event.

This year’s Iwa-ji Owerre Akokwa will take place on Saturday, 25th August, 2018 at the palace of the Traditional Ruler of the community, Eze  Emechebe. Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, himself an Ideato son, will grace the event as a special guest. Chairman/CEO of Orange Drugs Group, Sir (Dr.) Tony Ezenna (Ijele Akokwa) is among the prominent sons of the community that will storm the event. He is the guest of honour.

One of the highpoints of the Iwa-ji ceremony is the swearing-in of the new President General of Owerre Akokwa progressive Union, OPU, Chief (Sir) John Ihebighi (Omekannaya). The cultural event will be taking place under the distinguished chairmanship of the new OPU boss, Chief Emeka Emechebe (Amara Eri Aku Akokwa) who is also the President-General, Abia State Market Association.

Apart from Governor Okorocha and Sir Ezenna, other important personalities expected at the Iwa-ji ceremony include, Hon. Chukwukere, Member, Federal House of Representatives, representing Ideato North Federal Constituency at the National House of Assembly, Hon. Innocent Egwim, Member, Imo State House of Assembly representing Ideato North; Hon. Kingsley  Uche, Transition Committee Chairman, Ideato North LGA,  among others
