Okpe Group Hails Deltans For Electing Oborevwori, Other Okpe Candidates

A Pan-Okpe Socio-cultural and Political group, the Okpe People’s Forum (OPF), has commended Deltans in the three Senatorial zones for heeding it’s appeal of February 23rd, 2023 by electing one of their sons, Rt. Hon. (Okakuro) Sheriff Oborevwori (JP) as Governor of the state.

The group said in the keenly contested gubernatorial elections held on Saturday March 18 2023, Deltans spoke clearly and loudly that they believe in equity and justice and in the rotational political arrangement in the state by turning out in large numbers to cast their votes for Rt. Hon. Oborevwori, an Okpe from Delta Central zone.

The OPF also thanked the people of Delta Central for unanimously electing Okakuro Ede Dafinone as the Senator-elect and the Okpe and our Uvwie cousins for queuing behind Barrister Benedict Etanabene and electing him into the House of Representatives. Etanabene will be representing Okpe, Sapele, Uvwie Federal Constituency.

Similarly, the OPF commended all Okpe for castings their votes for Okakuro James Augoye for Okpe state constituency and Okakuro Perkins Umukoro, Sapele state constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly.

According to the statement signed by Igho Akeregha, President and Austin Azu, Public Relations Officer, the global group, made up of prominent Okpe Sons and Daughters across Nigeria and in the diaspora the Governor-elect who has been Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly in the last six years would be deploying his vast experience to deliver quality governance in Delta State.

“We are confident that Rt. Hon. Oborevwori will not disappoint Deltans. He will bring development to every part of the state and build on the achievements of His Excellency, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, the outgoing Executive Governor of the state” the statement added.

They recalled that in its February 23rd Press Statement, the OPF had appealed to all Deltans for their understanding and support to vote for Rt. Hon. Oborevwori during the governorship election in March.

The group had assured Deltans that the People’s Democratic Party candidate possess the necessary capacity and experience to lead Delta State into a prosperous state having gone down in history as Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly for the past six years and ensured stability in the affairs of the Assembly.

As the Governor-elect prepares to take the oath of office on May 29, 2023, the OPF said what should be of immediate priority to him should be the constitutional amendment allowing states in the country to licence, generate, transmit, and distribute electricity that was last week signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.

With the abundant natural gas deposits in the state and available new technology in power generation, the group appealed to Rt. Hon. Oborevwori to transform Delta State into an energy sufficiency hub for businesses to thrive

Other priority areas, the group noted are; roads, food security, urbanisation, affordable housing, access to, and equitable citing of educational institutions, law and order, affordable and quality healthcare, security and return of International Oil Companies and other businesses.
