“IBILE condemns the plot by the former Governor to compel delegates to submit their dignity for momentary financial gains. We are living witnesses and our members are ready to mount the witness box to prove that Dr Fayemi offered huge sums of money for delegates. The former governor had only fulfilled his campaign promises which were characterised by threats and intimidation of Ekiti people.”
“IBILE has no fewer than 95 APC delegates” out of the 2,618 qualified to vote on Saturday. The group described as appalling attempts by Dr Fayemi to distort the truth and open facts of his complicity which prompted public outcries when delegates started shouting “thief, thief” at Fayemi.”
“Reports from our members indicated that Dr Fayemi offered to bribe the delegates and undermine basic democratic principles during the party primary. This is most ridiculous and undermines the kernel principles of democracy and the rule of law. Delegates were camped by Dr Fayemi’s group with the sole aim of preventing other delegates from reaching and campaigning to them.”
“Trouble started when other APC aspirants felt shortchanged as the APC leadership allowed only Dr Fayemi’s agents to openly campaign within the premises of the stadium, promising delegates some “cash balance” if they could vote for the former Governor.”
“Dr Fayemi also constantly boasted that he would be imposed from Abuja and that the July 14 election was predetermined to favour him. We like to warn the National Chairman of the APC, Chief Oyegun not to corrupt and impugn the heritage of Ekiti people by intruding the perversion of the cultural values of our people.”
“We call on APC National leaders never to impose Fayemi on the people. Any attempt to impose him will lead to unprecedented riots and complete defeat of the APC in the July 14 election.”
