Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has been lambasted by the Northern Elders Forum (NEF).

The group’s Director of Publicity and Advocacy, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed of said;

“Every northerner have the right to aspire for the presidential position in 2023. The utterances of Governor Akeredolu can only make the country suffer.”

“Some sections of this country think that intimidating and threatening the North is what will yield the presidency to them, but they are wrong, it will not.”

“Such demands made by the likes of Governor Akeredolu are not helpful but will raise the temperature of the country. It will not help any Southern politician to get the support of the north even if the person is a good material.”

“All the threats, ultimatums and demands that are coming from politicians from the South will not help matters.”

“What is missing in Nigeria presently is an elite consensus of what it takes to get the country to survive between now and 2023 elections.”

For those who don’t know, Rotimi Akeredolu recently said that any political party that fields presidential candidate from the North will lose the presidential election because the Southern Governors will not support them.

Akeredolu is the Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum.
