Globacom boss, Otunba Mike Adenuga Jnr. is seeking the intervention of the Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara to resolve the arrest warrant issued against him by a House of Representatives panel.

A team of Glo officials led by a director, Toluyin Michael, submitted the letter to Dogara through Fijabi’s panel, saying the company’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), Folu Aderibigbe, alongside other officials were at the National Assembly for the meeting with the ad-hoc panel but that due to mix-up, went to the standing committee.
The letter, signed by the COO, read in part: “Contrary to facts of our discussions, we were surprised and disappointed that it was recommended by one of the committees that a bench warrant be issued against our chairman. To this end, we will be grateful if the speaker intervenes to ensure an amicable resolution of the issue.”
It is interesting to know that the House of Representatives ad-hoc panel on Thursday January 25th, 2018 resolved to issue an arrest warrant against him for constantly failing to honour its invitations.
The panel which is investigating operational activities of service of telecommunications companies, said in Abuja that it had summoned Adenuga after making several attempts to have him appear before it were not successful.
Hon. Ahmed Abu, chairman of the committee said during the panel’s sitting in Abuja that Adenuga’s action was an affront to the legislature. He revealed that records before the panel showed that Glo owes the Federal Government over N16.7 billion.
Hon. Ahmed Abu asked both the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) to go after the Glo chief for holding Nigeria’s money…
“A situation where the parliament will invite an agency or organisation and then it won’t come, then we’re going nowhere. Some people feel they’re too big; that they’re above the law. I’m making reference to Mr. Mike Adenuga, the chairman of Glo.”
“The amount of disrespect he has for the parliament is unacceptable. Yes, he’s a billionaire, but that doesn’t mean anything. Anybody can be a billionaire in the right atmosphere.”
