Former Governor Lucky Igbinedion of Edo State has been reportedly arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Source squealed to us that the former governor was grilled by operatives of the EFCC on Thursday, November 11th, 2021 over alleged diversion of public funds to the tune of N1.6 billion.
We gathered that Luck Igbinedion arrived at the headquarters of the EFCC at Jabi, Abuja around 2pm on Thursday.
For those who don’t know, Lucky Igbinedion was prosecuted by the EFCC and convicted for corruption shortly after his exit as governor in 2007.
However, sources at the EFCC said;
“The former governor diverted a loan obtained by the Edo State Government to finance an investment during his tenure, to settle the financial indebtedness of a company in which he had interest.”
