Lagos New CP, Kayode Egbetokun Unveiled

That CP Imohimi Edgal has been replaced by Kayode Egbetokun as the new Lagos State Commissioner of Police is an established fact.

But what many don’t know is that the new Commissioner of Police was prior to his appointment, the Deputy Commandant, Nigeria Police College, Ikeja Lagos.

Kayode Egbetokun was born on September 4th, 1964 in Erinja, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State, he joined the Nigeria Police Force on March 3, 1990 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.

He was appointed Chief Security Officer (CSO) to former Governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu. He served as the Commander, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Lagos; Squadron Commander, Mopol 5, Benin, Benin City; Officer-in-Charge, Anti-Fraud Unit, FCT Command, Abuja; Chief Superintendent of Police, Administration, Lagos State Command Head Quarters, Ikeja; Area Commander, Osogbo, Osun State Command; and Area Commander, Gusau, Zamfara State Command, etc.

He graduated from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos with Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Mathematics in June 1987. He was a lecturer in Mathematics at the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos briefly after his graduation before he finally joined the Nigerian Police Force (NPF).

He holds MSc in Engineering Analysis from the University of Lagos, Akoka, 1996 and Post-Graduate Diploma in Petroleum Economics from Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, 2000; and an MBA from Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, 2004.

He now replaces Imohimi Edgal who was appointed Lagos State Commissioner of Police on August 30th, 2017.
