How Oscar Ibru Died

Oscar Ibru, Chairman of the Ibru Organisation and first son of billionaire businessman, late Michael Ibru is dead.

He died after a brief illness. He was 67.

Oscar Ibru began his career at The Guardian as a management trainee before moving on to Emsee Shipping Lines Limited, where he served as Research and Development Manager.

He steadily rose through the ranks to become General Manager and was appointed Managing Director of the company in 1992.

He played a central role in the Ibru Organisation, overseeing several of its subsidiaries and actively participating in strategic decision-making across sectors such as shipping, fishing, oil and gas, port operations, and real estate.

Oscar Ibru also served as Chairman of the Dream Child Foundation, a non-governmental organization committed to empowering and supporting African children through music and cultural initiatives, in partnership with the World Bank and KPMG.

In addition, he was President of the Governing Council of the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping.
