Group Defends President Buhari

A Group by name Coalition for Buhari has raised concern over the unguided utterances of some Nigerians who they describe as enemies of progress working against President Buhari’s efforts towards moving Nigeria forward. These are groups who cannot come to terms with Mr. President’s gradual decapitation of insurgence and the fight against corruption.

In a press statement signed and read by its leader Hajiya Zuweira Sani Bakori at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Secretariat Kaduna, the journey to recession it posited started long ago and that Nigeria is at its threshold of getting back on track. All that is needed is for Nigerians to give President Buhari the needed support to get things fixed instead of scrupulous groups recruiting the sentiments of gullible Nigerians to blame the President for the outcome of their sustained damages.    Buhari represents integrity as such represents possibility. He should therefore be given the chance to make Nigeria great again. Zainab Tanimu, our Kaduna Correspondent was part of the press conference.

Excerpts:

“Distinguish friends of the patriotic Nigerian cause; we are here today because of the burden of integrity. We are here because we must stand up for Nigeria by standing up for President Buhari, We owe Nigeria and Nigerians a voice for a nation that is gradually breaking away from a terrible past. The days of wastages, leakages and impunity are fading away. But it will not fade easily because it has created vultures and monsters who enjoy the bleeding of Nigeria to death by mob rape. We are hearing their voices loud and clear, and they are claiming to speak for Nigeria. They are recruiting the sentiments of gullible Nigerians to blame President Buhari for the outcome of their sustained damages.”

The group stated that the present situation of anomalies the nation has found itself would have been averted if only those crying woes today whose hands the state of affairs rested had done the right thing.

“They were not vocal when their voices should have been loudest. They kept quiet and supported the draining of our treasury. They would not go down easily. They would bring all the alternative narration against Mr. President. Those who claimed Chibok girls were not abducted, or Boko Haram never even existed. Those who made political opportunity and economic capital at the cost of human lives wasted in the North eastern region, especially. Those who are yet to recover from the hangover of the 2015 general elections; Those who cannot come to terms with the gradual decapitation of insurgency and the fight against corruption; Those who choose to ignore the gradual reversal of our systemic decay and cannot affirm change. Those who will look the other way as our economy is increasingly diversified and our critical infrastructures are being rehabilitated and expanded. Those who want to mislead Nigerians by twisting the narrative.”

We are here to remind them…

  • Do they remember that, N2.7 trillion pumped into power generation BY PAST ADMINISTRATIONS only bequeathed Nigeria a nation in darkness for Buhari?
  • Do they remember that, sustained theft of Nigeria’s crude oil has depleted Nigeria Oil Revenue?
  • Do they acknowledge the desolation of refineries and pipeline networks and looting of monies in the name of turnaround maintenance?
  • Do they remember the diversion of billions of dollars signature bonus by allotees of oil blocs?
  • Will they tell you they are happy that our economy is being diversified? And budget padding is no longer an easy ride?
  • Are they happy that TSA has raked in N5.2 Trillion and the country has been saved over N3 trillion from rehabilitation of NNPC and removal of fuel subsidy?
  • Are they unsettled that, this administration has increased the reserve over $30 billion after it was massively depleted by the past government?
  • Will they be humble to admit that, the journey to recession was initiated long ago and we are already on a journey to economic recovery?

No! They will not.

They will leave the issues and debate the health of the president. They will even wish him dead because it is only in his death that they may return to the old ways.

We call on all Nigerians to join us in praying for the President’s quick recovery and his timely return to continue on the good work. Nigeria is at its threshold of getting back on track. The real enemies of Nigeria do not see this. They have refused to push for legal reforms to completely eradicate corruption.

The statement has called on the national assembly to as a matter of urgency sign into law both the Anti Corruption and the Whistle Blower Protection Acts for better results. “We call on the national assembly to immediately pass the Anti corruption Act, the Whistleblower Protection Act, and to strengthen and enable all other enabling laws in support of the president’s fight against corruption and in the overall restoration of our nation’s glory. A great Nigeria is possible and Buhari represents the possibility.”
