The Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu narrowly escaped death recently when his convoy was attacked by dare devil armed robbers. We gathered that the governor was returning from Umuahia to Aba about 8pm when his convoy ran into armed robbers operating very close to Immaculate Junction along Aba-Owerri Road. Those in the know disclosed to us that the robbers were robbing a Lagos bound bus when the governor’s security details ran into them and they opened fire at the governor’s convoy.

We were told that somebody was hit by stray bullet in the ensuring gun battle between the robbers and the governor’s security details. Though the governor escaped unhurt but it was a close shave with death.
