The Kaduna state governor, Nasiru El-Rufai and his deputy, Barnabas Bantex are to sacrifice 50% of their salaries to help revamp the economy of the state. Declaration was made before the mammoth crowd who witnessed the swearing in ceremony held at the Murtala Square Kaduna to usher in the APC administration.

His Excellency said the decision to sacrifice the sleeping comfort of today for a better future for our children is to demonstrate that act of leadership by example. In lieu of the difficult financial position of Kaduna state, himself and his deputy have decided to sacrifice 50% 0f their salaries to the state pending when the financial situation improves, saying Kaduna state is in shamble.

“In recognition of the difficult challenges we face, our deputy governor and I, have concluded that the sacrifices that came to quest must begin with us and we have decided therefore to take a pay cut by donating 50% of our salaries and allowances until our difficult situation improves. We understand that leadership by example is the more patriotic way to demand sacrifices from all of our citizens. Kaduna state is the 2^nd most indebted state in the country.”

Governor El- Rufai pledging his government’s commitment towards such values as transparency, modesty and accountability vowed to avoid any ostentatious style of operation in order to forge the state ahead. He therefore charged the people not to relent in prayers and support for the new government for the needed change to materialize. Promising to take critical look at such areas as education, health and other infrastructures which he said are in great need of attention.

“We pledge to avoid ostentation and value transparency, modesty and accountability. From today, we declare we are slaves no more. By choosing us to lead you people. I pledge to you today, to work day and night to make Kaduna great again. The time is now to serve the masses and to live up to our fullest potentials as human beings in the 24th century.

You the people of Kaduna state have chosen an era of hope and better future for our children. As President Muhammadu Buhari has assumed office of the president of our great country, we salute our people for choosing unity over division, humility over hatred and hope over fear.
