Suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele has granted bail by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.

He was granted bail in the sum of N20 million and a surety in like sum on Tuesday, July 23rd, 2023.

The bail followed a two-count charge of illegal possession of firearm brought against him by the Department of State Services, DSS.

Emefiele had been in DSS custody for over a month.

His lawyer, Joseph Daudu (SAN) had applied for his bail after Emefiele pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge.

The lawyer contended that the offence for which Emefiele was charged is bailable.
