Turning 50 has its attractions, though as one approaches the golden age, the perks of youth take a gradual bow and life unfolds more meaningfully. It will be another milestone for Hon. Adefunmilayo Tejuosho, when she attains the golden age on Wednesday, March 25th, 2015.
The beautiful Princess, according to information, is set to host her family, politicians and friends from all walks of life on the golden occasion.
We learnt that a top Nigerian music star has been contacted to thrill invited guests at the event, which has been generating buzz for some days now. This popular Lagos lawmaker attended the famous Queens College, Yaba, Lagos and later Saint Francis High School, USA. After which she proceeded to the prestigious West Virginia University for her pre-medicine degree. But it was obvious that young Tejuosho loathed the sight of blood and the smell of laboratory. So, she later went to the University of Buckingham, where she did Law and later attended the Nigerian Law School. Always in quest of knowledge, she did her master degree at the University of Lagos. She is currently writing her doctorate degree in the same University. Tejuosho, who is serving her third term, is set to return in the coming election. If providence smiles on her at the coming election, she definitely will become the longest serving female lawmaker in the history of the state assembly.
The ravishingly beautiful lawmaker has also proved to her colleagues that she is brainy, having proved her mettle in a male-dominated environment. Aside being a legal practitioner, she is a gender activist and a progressive politician, she has also collaborated with other progressive gender activists and Non-governmental organisation in the area of woman empowerment, and has been working relentlessly towards raising the awareness of woman about their social and political rights.
She believes that political platform can be optimally utilized to achieve gender equality. Being a compassionate mother, and friend to the less privileged, she periodically engages in poverty alleviation programmes to alleviate the sufferings of her constituents. It is on record that she sponsored the passage of the Domestic Violence Bill into Law (as a Private Member Bill) in the 5th Assembly when she was the Deputy Chief Whip and Chairman, House Committee on Women Affair and Poverty Alleviation. She also supported and contributed to the passage of other bills into law. Spanning education, health, infrastructure, youth empowerment and development information, security, appropriation and the child’s rights law. She is the author of the book, “Overcoming Domestic Violence,”
