Lately, it has been observed that Funmi Goka has become a scare fixture at society events. The well-celebrated style icon has outgrown her erstwhile, strong inclination to socialise.

The reason has a lot to do with her current position as Deputy Managing Director of Agip Oil Company Limited. Funmi is the first woman to attain the status in the over 50 years history of the oil and gas industry, and it is one task she discharges with deep sense of commitment. Over the years, Funmi has come to be recognised as one of the leading females, silently operating in the nation’s oil and gas sector and she is steadily climbing the corporate ladder of success in her chosen career.

Like a princess of commerce that she is, Funmi spends her days working and strategizing in the crafty and cold world of Nigeria’s oil industry. Consequently, she has amassed what can be said to be a good fortune at 55 that has bought her the good life.

Invariably, Funmi, who is known to be very diligent by nature, has been very occupied, with meeting the new demands of her new position. A trained lawyer, Funmi has a career that spans over 20 years in the company, serving in various capacities and positions of responsibilities in different departments which includes overseeing Agip Oil’s Public Affairs Division as the General Manager and previously as the Manager.

She was also at different times in charge of the company’s Personnel Services, OPTS Group Affairs, and specific projects in Gas Ventures and Negotiations Division.

She parades an elegance that surprisingly presents an admirable rampart to her personality especially when she is assessed in the light of her stunning intellect. The result is a woman of poise and infectious charm that can win over even the most hostile adversary.

Funmi is the daughter of the late Chief Hezekiah Oladipo Davies, the former leading Nigerian nationalist, lawyer, journalist, trade unionist, international statesman, politician and a Minister in the First Republic. She graduated from the University of Evansville, Evansville, Indiana with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and obtained a degree in Law from the University of Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, England.

Funmi was called to the bar in 1988. Married to Frankie Goka, a scion of the Goka family of Ghana. She is a proud mother of two lovely girls, Emily and Delali, and a boy, Frankie-Junior.
