Popular musicians; Felix Lebarty and Bob Ejike war has taken a fresh dimension as Kenneth Ehi-Choya has taken Bob Ejike to the cleaners.
The war started when international Nigerian born-musician, Tee Mac said that 80 percent of Nigerian musicians are music illiterates.
Thereafter, Felix Lebarty responded that Tee Mac is not a musician. This statement by Lebarty angered Bob Ejike who lambasted him.
He said; “For the benefit of Felix Lebarty and his ilk. I knew Felix Lebarty when he was living in someone’s garage in Chief Ekwueme Street, Uwani, Enugu, scraping out a miserable living as a session musician. I used to bring him food and my used clothes to lend him some dignity and save him from starvation.”
“At about that time Tee Mac was conducting Shirley Bassey’s orchestra and touring the world with Silver Convention whose Fly Robin Fly was on the world chart. Tee Mac made his mark in global classical music before coming to Nigeria to release his famous album with hit track Nepa.”
“His band Tee Mac Connektion played side by side with Fela at Surulere Niteclub. Since then Tee Mac has been a constant presence in every aspect of Nigerian performing music including serving as president of PMAN.”
“His artistry may not be indigenous but his contribution has been sustained through generations. On the contrary Felix Lebarty made two albums and ran off to Abuja to lick political asses only to show up again after his mistresses were kicked out, as a pastor of some kind.”
“Is it the two albums he made that makes him the judge and jury of musicians? Both veterans are musicians but Tee Mac is a much more experienced and accomplished musician. I have made over 100 songs and performed in 20 countries but I have never arrogated to myself the role of confering musicianship on others.”
However, Kenneth Ehi-Choya said; “Mr Bob Ejike I hate the level you have taken this discussion to. To the level of slamming and shaming a great musician of repute, who have over three to four albums to his credit, you lied for saying he has just two albums.”
“It means you do not know him well you just want to boost your inferiority ego. By your comment and the way you went about it, you shot yourself, because you are not even qualify to condemn any of the two actors of this discuss.”
“I leave Tee Mac out of this discussion, this is between you Bob Ejike and the great Felix Lebarty. That you have supported Felix Lebarty is self edifying and boastful and have no facts backing it. That does not limit the fact that you can not wear Felix Lebarty slippers not to talk of his shoes.”
“You were not born with what you may claim you are today, you have lived off people and licked asses that I know of. Everyone have a beginning and past. Your over 100 songs cannot stand one of Felix’s lowly performed song.”
“Give me one tittle of a hit song you ever made? You do not have any. Your lack of respect for talent especially for a great musician like Felix Lebarty is the reason you lack talent. Scroll up a little and read he is a man who respect talent of even younger artistes. He spelt out the reason for his comment.”
“His comment did not warrant your disdain comment of insults. And you, what is your reason for attacking him? Maybe he told you the truth at that time that you cannot sing and you are still angry with him for that bitter truth.”
“Felix Liberty is a household name. With most of his songs remixed. He had his signature on almost all the hit songs of his time, from Chris Okotie to many other greats. He is a multi-instrumentalist, a great singer, song writer, hits maker, a music teacher and one of the famous 5 greatest Nigerian Guitarists.”
“And you, you can’t sing, you can’t sing to key, you can’t sing to beat, you are a horrible singer, even with 90% autotune you will still not sound good. We are talking about musicians here and you are counting yourself as a musician, stop, stop thinking you are a musician. Share one of your songs hear let people score you.”
“E bi like say the one year break I took from Facebook never do. I need to get away again since I cannot waka-pass these kind of pull-him-down persons. I am out of here.”
Besides, Felix Lebarty said; “Kenneth Ehi-Choya love you so much for having enough words to make Ejike know mind.”
Also, Bob Ejike added; “Umon NG thanks, stating facts is an act of love from which we learn. Clearly the abusive individual that took over this discussion and started raining abuses did so for purely tribal reasons.”
“With all due respect, how can someone say Fela, Uwaifo, Olaiya, Ebenezer, Sonny Okosun, Sunny Ade, Berkely Jones, Emma Ogosi, Okotie, Majek, Davido, Wizkid, 2face, are illiterate musicians. This is social media, the world is watching. You cannot open your mouth and say things you dont know a thing about.”
“Because he wasn’t born then he didn’t know that Sonny Okosuns, Kris Okotie and Felix Lebarty were all made in Enugu and launched and supported by Ibos who fanatically deified them and in an era that Yorubas were stuck on Juju and Hausas gummed to Dan Maraya and Mamman Shatta, without us Ibos these Edo artists would not have amounted to much no matter how talented they were.”
