A First City Monument Bank manager stole a huge sum of N350 million from a customer’s account recently. Insiders squealed to us that the manager stole the money to buy dollars from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) so that he can sell in the black market and make a huge profit. But the bank’s internal audit discovered the fraud and he was about to be handed over to the police for prosecution when he committed suicide.

The banker, Olisa Nwakobi was the FCMB branch manager at Jakande, Lekki, Lagos State. He is the son of the former chairman of First Bank Plc, Patrick Oguejiofor Nwakobi. The 44-year old committed suicide in front of his pastor at Our Lady Star of the Sea church in Northern Foreshore estate, Lekki, Lagos.
