Trouble for former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman as a Federal High Court in Abuja convicts him on charges of money laundering involving about ₦33.8 billion.

The ruling was delivered by Justice James Omotosho, who found Mamman guilty on all 12 counts filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The court held that the anti-graft agency successfully proved its case beyond reasonable doubt, establishing the former minister’s involvement in the financial offences.

According to the EFCC, the alleged ₦33.8 billion fraud was linked to funds earmarked for key power sector projects, including the Mambilla and Zungeru hydroelectric schemes.

He was accused of conspiring with ministry officials and private individuals to divert public funds through questionable transactions during his tenure.

Saleh Mamman served as Minister of Power under former President Muhammadu Buhari from August 21, 2019, to September 1, 2021, when he was removed during a cabinet reshuffle.
