Ex-Governor Uduaghan’s Bombshell

Ex-Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State has sent a strong warning and advice to those wanting to set Delta State on fire.

“In 16 years I worked hard for the peaceful co-existence of this State. As SSG, I gave my boss, Gov. James Ibori all the backing to deal with the complex ethnic issues. With Comrade Ovuozorie Macaulay as Commissioner in Charge of conflict resolution, we spent sleepless nights dousing tension here and there. As appointees of Gov. Ibori it was our duty to do so.”

“As Governor, I worked hard for the peaceful co-existence of Delta State. In the peak of the Niger-Delta crisis I consulted widely with traditional rulers, retired military officers, religious leaders, youths, women and several other segments of the society. Some, such as the Dein of Agbor, Pere of Akugbene, Archbishop God-Do-Well Avwomakpa, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, Bishop Simeon Okah even went to various parts of the State including the creeks on engagement processes.”

“As governor, I entered the creeks in the day and at night without security on engagement processes, because I was warned not to come with security if they were to listen to me. AK 47 was pointed at me even by our own soldiers who did not know whom I was during one of those missions. I was threatened by kidnappers and other criminals but I stood my grounds.”

“As a government we worked hard, including making sacrifices to ensure we had a peaceful transition. Delta was on the list of “red States” were trouble was predicted during the elections. But we jump “trouble” pass to the Glory of God.”

“I know what can ignite the fire in Delta State. We must all be at alert to ensure we do not use our own hands to ignite such fire. You can set fire in a bush but you can never be sure how far that fire can go. For those in the corridors of power, the best you can do for your boss is to assist him to make the State peaceful. Ensure that what comes out of the government is positive news.”

“I will continue to contribute my quota to the peace in Delta State. I know that no one has the monopoly of mischief. No paid propagandists or blackmailers will unruffle me. I pray God will continue to keep me calm in the face of provocation. As you read this, I pray God will also keep you calm and no “vexing” please.”
