Ex-Governor Ibrahim Shema of Katsina State has been arrested by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC). He was whisked away on his way out of court premises on Tuesday 7th February, 2017. EFCC operatives were said to have barricaded the main exit of the court and asked Shema to come down from his car and join them in their vehicle and it took over an hour during the standoff before some of the EFCC officials entered his car and move along with them in their convoy.
Sources disclosed to us that during the last court sitting on the governor’s case, the EFCC’s lawyer complained to the court that the former governor is not fulfilling one of his bail conditions by making himself available when summoned. They had asked the court for him to be remanded so that they can easily reach him whenever they want.
