Mr. Ukpabio is a Chartered Insurer and a member of the Society of Fellows of the Chartered Insurance Institute, London, a highly seasoned marketer (Fellow Institute of Direct Marketing) and an astute administrator with industry experience of over two and half decades.

He started his career as a broker and later worked as a Risk Manager before joining Equity Indemnity Insurance Company Ltd as Senior Manager, Marketing in 1995. He contributed immensely to the growth and development of the company and by dint of hard work, commitment and resilience, rose to the position of AGM, (Marketing/ Business Development) in the year 2000. Between October 2000 and 2002, he was appointed to serve as Managing Director/CEO of Anchor Insurance Company Ltd by the Akwa Ibom State Govt and he successfully prepared the company for privatization and hand-over to a preferred core investor.

He returned to Equity Indemnity in 2002 as Head, Business Development Group, (comprising Equity Indemnity, Equity Life and Managed Healthcare Services Ltd). In January 2004, he was seconded to MHS Ltd as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in addition to his business development function for the Group and was elevated to the post of General Manager in Dec. 2005.

In year 2006, he was invited by Oceanic Bank International Plc Group (now Ecobank Group) to serve as the MD/CEO of one of her subsidiaries, Oceanic Life Assurance Ltd., and also a member of the Board of Directors of Oceanic Insurance Co. Ltd., and Oceanic Health Management Ltd., from 2006 to 2012.

Mr. Ukpabio has special skills in Turnaround Management, Corporate Restructuring and Re-engineering, Strategic Management and Negotiation. He is an alumnus of Lagos State Polytechnic, ESUT Business School, Lagos Business School and Swiss Insurance Training Centre (now Swiss-Re Academy), Zurich.

He is a member of the prestigious Ikoyi Club 1938 and Lagos Country Club.

Mr. Ukpabio is currently the MD/CEO of Equity Assurance Plc (the parent company of Managed Healthcare Services Ltd., Equity Assurance Ghana, EA Capital Management Limited and Equity Resort and Hotels, Ijebu-Ode. He is married and blessed with children.
