Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, was a day to remember at Amofia Town Hall, Obodo Akwari, in Amofia, Ogwofia Owa in Ezeagu LGA of Enugu State.
Reason? Well, on that day, members of the community, from all walks of life, thronged the hall to attend the Peoples Democratic Party Imezi Owa Ward II meeting. Incidentally, this was the very first party meeting to be held at that venue since 1999, and was the initiative of the Ward Chairman, designed to move the meeting around the component communities.
The gathering was hosted by Lawrence Okafor, an Imezi Owa native, engineer and popular Enugu businessman, who operates Ngwo Park, Uwani, Enugu, the Coal City’s premier and largest sports, entertainment and family recreation centre.
A staunch member of the ruling PDP, Law is on the party’s State Exco, as the Deputy Treasurer, West.
PDP top stakeholders who were at the function included Hon. Engr. Onyi Odibe a.k.a Okpotokpo Nwa, the State Organising Secretary; Hon. Chief Mrs. Nkiru Ugwuagu, Owa, Deputy Mayor, Ezeagu LGA; Hon. Andy Ilo, former Ezeagu LGA party Chairman; Hon. Paul Nwachukwu, pioneer Chairman, Ward 7, Enugu South LGA; Hon. Ejike Chiawa, the serving Ward Councillor; Hon. Stan Ugwu a.k.a Infinity, Ward Chairman; Hon. Uche Adinde, Ward Assistant Secretary; Hon. Ngozi Ejim, Ward Women Leader; Barr. Kingsley Anidiobu, Okosisi; Hon. Ejike Ozokoli, former Legislative Leader; Okwudili Ejim, Skido, Ward Youth Leader; Hon. Chinedu Ejimadu and Hon. Okey Eke, from Enugu South LGA; Hon. Obiora Chikelu, Omelora; Obi Okafor; Chibuike Ojide; Chief James Uzodufa; Hon. Alfred Ozomma, Ezeagu LGA Exco member; Hon. George Ajuanu, former Councillor; Emeka Udealor, Ward Exco member; Ken Zeowa; Oliver Maduekwe a.k.a Darkness; Emma Buolu a.k.a Oche ka Oche, and many others too numerous to be mentioned here.
During the meeting, a party stalwart, Cletus Osondu, donated N100,000 to the ward and N30,000 to the youths, a gesture which drew enthusiastic applause from all present.
Guests were later treated to drinks of choice, and delicious abacha, a local, cassava -based delicacy.
Highlights included rousing speeches by Hon. Odibe, Chief Mrs. Ugwuagu, and Hon. Andy Ilo, who all urged members not to relent in their support for the party, and for Governor Peter Mbah.
This comes amidst ongoing, mostly social media rumours and speculation alleging that the Enugu State Governor is about to dump the PDP.
Law Okafor, while addressing the gathered party faithfuls, extolled the sterling qualities of Governor Peter Mbah, who he described as “unbranded”, and pledged his own, and the ward’s unalloyed support for Governor Mbah, in his own words, ” Come what may !”
