That star actor, Emeka Ike’s marriage has crashed is an established fact. Also, his ex-wife, Suzanne Emma has returned the N300 bride price he paid to her family. For those who don’t know a Lagos Island Customary Court on Thursday, 2nd March, 2017 dissolved the marriage over alleged incessant battering.
Emma had on July 13, 2015 approached the court to dissolve the 14-year-old marriage between her and Emeka. The Court President, Mr. Awos Awosola, said that from the evidence before the court, it was obvious that the marriage was beyond redemption.
“Emeka, who has been begging to be reconciled with his wife, has not made any effort towards the reconciliation. The marriage is hereby dissolved with effect from March 2nd 2017, in accordance with the Lagos State Customary Court Law, 2011; Order 3 Rule 7 as amended. Any party that is not satisfied with the judgment has the right to appeal to any court of higher jurisdiction within 30 days from today.”
Awosola awarded the custody of their four children to the husband and ordered that the wife must have unhindered access to them.
The mother of four children had earlier told the court that Emeka Ike had been physically and verbally abusing her all through the duration of their marriage. “My husband treated me like nobody and throughout this divorce tussle, he had denied me access to my children. He does not allow them to pick my call as he keeps changing their numbers.”
“The last time I heard my first son’s voice was when he was sick and about to undergo surgery. It was a friend who informed me that my son was in the hospital and I called Emeka, asking him for the location of the hospital. But he refused to tell me. He refused to collect all items that I bought for the children during Christmas from me.”
The Nollywood star denied the allegations and begged the court not to separate them because he still loved and had always cherished his wife. He revealed that their marital problems began when she started taking money from the proceeds of the school he established for her without his consent.
It is interesting to know that the ex-wife before now had reveal that the ex-husband beat the hell out of her and it was her brother who took her to the hospital where she spent two months. She added that there was a day she was feeding her child with tea and the husband snatched the tea cup from her and poured the hot tea on her heard.
She equally disclosed that Emeka Ike has been calling her a witch and prostitute and he would leave home for two months under pretense of keeping appointments.
During the marriage crisis, Emeka Ike accused Pastor Kris Oghenebrorien Okotie of Household of God Church of encouraging his wife to divorce him. The actor cried out that Pastor Okotie gave his wife, Suzanne N500,000 and also bought her a Blackberry Passport phone. He added that the man of God equally hired a Senior Advocate of Nigeria to pursue her divorce case against him in court.
