Suspended Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has been arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Emefiele was arrested on Friday, May 9th, 2023 moments after his suspension by President Bola Tinubu.

The president said Emefiele was suspended due to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.

However, Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi has been appointed as acting Governor of the apex bank.

Folashodun was the Deputy Governor, Operations Directorate, CBN before his new appointment.
