Famous musician, Davido has been heavily criticized by Nigerians for saying that the country’s economy is in shambles.

All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Joe Igbokwe, in a post on his official Facebook page said:

“My In-law Davido has made me sad by telling the world in America that Nigeria’s economy is in shambles.”

“This is very sad. I will advise him to retract the statement asap. Nigeria made Davido!!!”

Ex-President Mohammadu Buhari’s former aide, Bashir Ahmed also in his post on his official X handle said:

“Selling out your country from foreign soil is so disappointing and unpatriotic. Public figures like Davido should know that.”

“They should act and be seen as good ambassadors for Nigeria wherever they find themselves.”!

For those who don’t know, Davido had in a podcast interview recently urged black people in the US particularly Nigerians not to return home because of the nation’s current economic woes.

He said: “It is not cool back home. The economy is in shambles”.

Davido made the statement following speculations that some black people in the US are considering leaving the country after Donald Trump won the presidential election in the US.
