David Famuyiwa, Executive Secretary of AGBADO/Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) escaped death by whiskers recently. We gathered that Oke-Odo market traders pursued the politician with broken bottles, stones and other dangerous weapons. Sources revealed that the LCDA boss had to run into Oke-Odo Police Station to escape lynching by the angry traders. We were told that the traders have been angry with him over illegal charges and they seized the golden opportunity while he was monitoring weekly environmental sanitation at the market to deal with him decisively and he ran for his dear life.
The embattled LCDA boss confirmed the attack. Hear him: “The intention of those who carried out the attack was to kill me because of my aversion to their activities in the market. I only went to the market with the council’s health officers and members of our task force to monitor compliance with the state-wide weekly market sanitation and to carry out the instruction of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on the discontinuation of street trading around the market.
“I had earlier pleaded with street traders to relocate from the old Ota Road to the main market. Some of the traders have been complying with my instruction when suddenly some men incited the traders to disregard my directive. Before I knew it, they started throwing stones and broken bottles at me and snatched my iphone.
“I had to call the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Oke-Odo Police Station to rescue us from the scene but the disgruntled traders continued to attack us with stones and bottles.”
