Death has occurred of Ezinnaoma di ebube Offor Asuzu.

He died on 23rd April 2020. Popular as Onye Chinyere ya rie, the late Asuzu hailed from Umuopia community, Akokwa in Ideato North local government area of Imo.

Friend, family members and associates have been paying glowing tributes to Ezinnaoma di ebube whose memory they say will remain boldly engraved in the hearts of many.

According to them, though the late Asuzu has physically departed this earth, he lives on in the hearts of those who encountered him while alive for he was a source of inspiration and direction to them.

He was a devout Catholic who never missed Sunday masses.

Offor Asuzu Joseph was a forthright community leader who took the things of God seriously. No wonder the former Catholic Bishop of Orlu Diocese, Bishop Gregory Ochiagha, conferred on him the title Of Ezinnadibube. 

Born on 2nd September 1938 to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Offor Ikeanyionwu David (Ezeokeoha), as a young man, Joseph was industrious, enterprising and resourceful.

During his lifetime he was a shrewd businessman who started his early business life at Aba, present-day Abia state.

He later relocated to Onitsha where he delved into electrical works and repairs of appliances (Radio, stereo and Television sets)

Ezinnaoma di ebube was married to his lovely wife, Ezinne Offor Sarah Omanukwuwe and together they were blessed with 8 children: Mrs. Nwanedo Chinyere, Chief Uche Offor; an industrialist and business mogul, Mrs. Obi Ndidiamaka, Mr. Offor Onyebuchi, Mr Offor Ndubisi, Mr Offor  Nnaemeka , Mrs Owuamana Ugochi, Mrs. Ebelebe Chilee.

He was also blessed with 39 grandchildren.

As a growing up boy, the late Asuzu was very industrious and enterprising hence he left his parents very early in life and followed a relation to Aba after his standard six to seek greener pasture.

Apat from trading and repair of electronic gadgets, Ezinnadibube was for  a short period a boxer too.

As a boxer, he was popularly hailed as Tango-Joe.

Urbane and cosmopolitan, Asuzu lived in Onitsha with his darling wife till he was called back by his creator in April.

Ezinnaoma was a good Christian who believed and voiced it out too,  that he would make heaven.

Loved dearly by his people, friends and well-wishers rue his demise. Infact, the whole of Umukakogu Emehama Umuopia autonomous community Akokwa, his community, is  in pains. They are mourning, they are crestfallen because, according to them, their Iroko has fallen.They lament the loss of a good man to the cold hands of death.

The late Offor’s rites of passage will commence on Friday, September 4th, 2020 with a Requiem mass at St.Jude’s Catholic Church, Umuopia.

Internment, reception, and condolences follow immediately at his country home.

Thanksgiving/outing mass in his honour holds on Sunday, 6th September, 2020 at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Umuopia.
