Popular galala singer, Baba Fryo has slammed Wizkid for claiming to be bigger than the late Afrobeats legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
Baba Fryo said: “I just dey shame for this Gen Z. How can these kids compare a kid to an elder? Fela was a great musician, a multi-instrumentalist, a revolutionist.”
“He wasn’t just an artiste but a full-time musician, and he remained relevant for over 30 years until the day he died.”
“A Jamaican artiste would never do such to Bob Marley. I dey shame for this youth. Call Gen Zero sense. Mtcheew.”
Wizkid in a statement via his social media handle while reacting to Seun Kuti’s allegation that he stole his nickname said:
“I big pass your papa!! Wetin you don do? I’m Big Wiz everyday.”
“Ok everybody better pass Wizkid! Can we all sleep now? Fela fight for freedom, this fool dey fight FC! Oloshi Omo ale!”
For those who don’t know, Seun Kuti had during a livestream accused Wizkid of theft. This comes after a Wizkid’s fan told him to change his nickname from “Big Bird” because Wizkid also bears “Biggest Bird”.
Responding to the comment, Kuti said:
“Wizkid stole my name. Tell your fave to be original. Why are you telling me to change my name? Sorry, I can’t change it.”
“This name has been here for a long time. I was the first to come up with it. I am not dragging it with anybody, please.”
