Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of Nigeria has denied plotting the exit of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu from the Nigeria Police Force in 2002 as alleged by the Oba. “At no time did I suggest or propose Oba Akiolu’s removal from the Force.”

“I never supervised the police or the Police Service Commission (PPSC) and, therefore, could not have been part of any alleged plot to force Akiolu out of public service for committing no offence. I was not familiar with Oba Akiolu as at the time the monarch was removed from the police. I hold the Oba of Lagos in the highest esteem.”
