Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s son is in pains as an Upper Area Court, Kubwa, Abuja has ordered him to hand over custody of his three sons to his former wife, Maryam Sherif.

Delivering the judgement on Tuesday, October 27th, 2020 the judge, Bashir Danmaisule, said according to the authority contained in FIQH ALA MAZAHIB AL – ARBAH the custody of children lies in the hands of the mother.

The Judge added that so long the plaintiff is not married, the said authority stands but if she was married, custody will be to her mother.

He further stated that the defendant could not establish any default against the plaintiff to deprive her of her children under Islamic law.
