The Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria,CAN, South South zone who is also the Chairman of the Niger Delta Bishop forum, Archbishop God-Dowell Avwomakpa, at a church service in Warri, Delta state to mark his 67th birthday, said President Jonathan shocked the entire world when he conceded defeat to General Mohammadu Buhari, at the March 28th Presidential election by placing a phone call to congratulate him even before the announcement of the final result by the electoral umpire.
The phone call that President Jonathan placed to General Buhari according to the Archbishop shows that President Jonathan is a true and faithful leader. A faithful leader the CAN chairman said will do everything to safeguard the life of the people he leads
Besides, the Archbishop said President Jonathan has paid the price for the peace of Nigeria. He thus call on all Nigerians and other world leaders to learn from the President Jonathan’s example.
According to the CAN Chairman South South zone, the character of a true Christian is what President Jonathan displayed shortly before Prof Atahiru Jega, INEC chairman announced the result of the Presidential poll.
Avwomakpa, who is also the chairman of the Niger Delta Bishops forum noted that if not for the prayers of Nigerians and the singular action of President Jonathan, the nation’s atmosphere would have been that of war, confusion and reckless killings and destruction of property.
He equally called on religious leaders to live exemplary life and urged Nigerians to pray continuously for their leaders especially the in-coming government of Mohammadu Buhari.
